Over 400,000 players flood the servers to slay the dead and each other during DayZ’s first week of Steam early access.

Bohemia Interactive has posted the statistics for the first week of DayZ standalone, which headed to Steam’s early access on December 16th, 2013. The first week of early access yielded over 400k players with a peak concurrency of 40k players. During the first week, three updates were added to improve performance and gameplay.

While DayZ is still a ways away from its release day version, fans can pick it up now and start playing through Steam’s early access for $29.99. Just be ready to experience bugs, glitches, and broken content. It is for all intensive purposes an alpha build. Just keep in mind this disclaimer from the DayZ Steam page before you decide to throw down the cash.

WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING.

If you can live with that, by all means, have fun.
