On Saturday, November 2nd, thousands of players sat down to begin a 25 hour gaming marathon as part of the Extra Life charity event. Extra Life is an organized annual event in which players obtain charitable donors to pledge money towards their gaming marathon. The funds from the event are donated to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

As this weekend’s event began, someone decided to launch DDoS attacks against the Extra Life website not one, two, or three times, but four. Despite the tasteless efforts by some to ruin the charity event, the more than 32,000 gamers taking part still managed to raise over $3.6 million to benefit charity.
