While some of us might still see the VR revolution as a returning fad that will eventually pass us by once again like it did back when the Lawnmower Man was a popular movie, others are taking it a bit more serious. Social networking giant Facebook has reportedly purchased Oculus VR, makers of the Oculus Rift, for a cool $2 billion. Talk about faith in a product.
Oculus Rifts Kickstarter ended with a successful funding of 2.4 million back in September 2012. For something that has yet to officially launch, thats quite a return. (I predict backer backlash)
Mobile is the platform of today, and now were also getting ready for the platforms of tomorrow, said Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. Oculus has the chance to create the most social platform ever, and change the way we work, play and communicate.
