FFXI Announces Developer Stream for March 19th

by on Mar 18, 2015

Square-Enix in a sort of odd surprise announced a developer stream for March 19th, 2015. This Thursday be sure to tune for a live stream and click to find the link, who knows maybe the game will go free-to-play.

So, FFXI the little MMO that could (not FFXIV mind you, the one that's getting the upcoming Heavensword expansion) is hosting a YouTube Live stream on March 19th:

We will be holding a press conference regarding our plans for FINAL FANTASY XI going forward, with the event broadcast live on the internet.

Date and Time: Thursday, March 19 starting at 12:00 a.m. PDT
Viewable on YouTube Live
*The stream will be in Japanese only and will be made public when the event begins. An English language digest will be made available on the official forums.
* Note that the broadcast may not be available in all regions.

For those awake at 3 AM EST / 12 AM PDT, you might want to tune in and see it, but probably won't be able to understand it. An English digest will be made available on the forums, assuming fans don't live translate the updates as they come. Here are some possible rumors:

New Expansion Going Free-to-Play Closing Service (Unlikely) Removing International Support (Unlikely) Something else (probably unlikely)

My bet is that FFXI is going to go free-to-play or some new subscription model, in which case you can be sure I'll be logging in and playing some for sure. If you're lazy, be sure to check back here Thursday as we'll surely have the updates on our site.
