Joel Bylos Talks AoC Server Mergers, the Event System, and More

Game Director Joel Bylos posts his latest missive to discuss Age of Conan’s single server integration move and future updates.

It’s that time of the month again. Game Director Joel Bylos has dispatched his latest missive for Age of Conan: Unchained (AoC). The latest update is a bit shorter than Bylos’ previous updates and cuts straight to the point of the continued work of migrating AoC to single server tech, implementing a new Event system, and future planned updates.

The server migration is pretty much a restatement of the previous updates, explaining once again that it will take place over several phases, so nothing new there. The one new thing that will interest players with latency issues is that Bylos did state that a new network layer is being added that will hopefully address the issues with stability and lag spikes.

As for the more juicy bits of the update, Bylos reflected on the recent 5th anniversary celebration and the new Event system that Funcom has put in place that will allow them to start and end events as well as tune them up on the fly without the need for server downtime. A bit further out, players can expect to see the Coils of Ubah Khan group dungeon hitting Testlive soon, more revamps to pre-80 dungeons, minigames, and a number of possible zone changes.
