Today, Mitch "Krepo" Voorspoels announced that he has played his last-ever game of competitive League of Legends. A mostly unsuccessful run with Elements will be the closing chapter of Krepo's long and fruitful playing career, and it is worth saluting the efforts of the Support player.
Krepo originally made his name years ago with CLG.EU, where he played with Wickd, Snoopeh, Froggen, and Yellowpete. While Wickd and Froggen would go on to compete under the Alliance banner in Europe, Krepo, Snoopeh, and Yellowpete would move to North America as members of Evil Geniuses. This squad was always seen to have great potential, as they would eventually pick up the likes of Pobelter and Altec. However, the team was never able to enjoy the success expected of them, and Krepo's stint with the organization would come to a close once they re-branded as Winterfox. He took some time off from there, eventually re-joining former teammates Froggen and Wickd on Alliance in Europe, attempting to right a sinking ship. While he was looked at to improve on the play and shot-calling of former Support player Nyph, the team's issues stemmed from more than one player, and they could do no better than 7th place after having claimed the European crown just one split prior.
When joining Elements, Krepo had stated that it was time to "put up or shut up," believing this to be his last chance to prove himself as a high-level player that was capable of performing in the LCS. With his time in Elements not yielding the desired results, and with the game now feeling more like a chore and less like fun, Krepo has decided it's time to end his playing career. Fortunately for the community as a whole, he does not intend to simply fade away. He has greatly enjoyed his time working with Riot, most notably as an analyst for the World Championship for both Season 3 and Season 4, and appears interested in working full-time as an analyst or caster. Fans have previously lauded Krepo for his abilities as an analyst, and would surely welcome him in a full-time role. Whether or not Riot Games will be able to offer him such a role remains to be seen, but chances are they'll be keen to find some way to keep him around.
Whatever happens from here on out, we'd like to thank Krepo for everything he's done for the League of Legends competitive scene, and wish him all the best. Something tells us he'll be just fine.
