For some time now, many people have pointed to the best-of-one format as one of the most limiting factors when it came to developing Western League of Legends teams; specifically, their ability to compete in international competitions. They simply weren't accustomed to playing longer sets, putting them at an immediate disadvantage against Korean or Chinese teams. It seems Riot Games has heard these concerns, and will be doing something about it.
In the Summer Split of 2016, the European LCS will be moving to a best of 2 format, while North America will begin to play best of 3. Riot recognizes that there are pros and cons to both of those formats, and will be testing both, with the possibility of both regions utilizing the same format in Season 7.
This will, of course, affect the broadcast. Europe's games will still be played on Thursdays and Fridays, with two streams running simultaneously. NA will now play three days per week, Friday-Sunday. There will be a single stream on Fridays, with a dual stream on the weekends. Below is a visual representation of the new schedule:
