Lord of the Rings is HUGE as a title. Many players have been fans of the books for decades, and the movies have generated even more fans. The announcement of an LoTR game was huge in the MMO industry. I came across the following, very interesting, look at why the game may not be for everyone. It's not even for technical reasons, its for marketing and policy...
That's why I get so infuriated when otherwise promising MMOs get sabotaged by the very companies that make them. It's stupid decisions that kill otherwise good games, chase off potential customers, and shorten the life spans of interesting MMOs.
