Live Events are returning to EVE Online with the Tyrannis expansion. In fact, some have already begun. CCP hopes to begin anew generation of interactive storylines. All in-game events will be run by EVE Online developers and event production will be handled in-house. According to CCP, you can find details for the events on the EVE Online forums, news and other places you may not expect. The new story events are aimed at drawing players into the rich storyline of the EVE universe and taking the first steps towards creating creating the first truly interactive storylines since the disbanding of AURORA.
