NCsoft Conference Call Discusses Guild Wars 2 Console Version and Beta Events

NCsoft and ArenaNet discuss Spanish localization for Guild Wars 2, a console port and planned beta events starting next month.

There’s a bit of good news for Guild Wars 2 fans today. Guild Wars Insider has confirmed via an NCsoft conference call that Guild Wars 2 will be holding large-scale beta tests in March and April. Following the results of those tests, the team will plan the next step for the game.

The conference call and a recent post have also confirmed that a small team is working on a console version for Guild Wars 2, which is unlikely to launch at the same time as the PC version. ArenaNet's Martin Kerstein also posted a brief response to fans on the Guild Wars 2 Guru forums for fans concerned about a console version affecting the PC version.

I think "stay calm, don't panic" will become my new mantra.

We stated multiple times in public that we have a small team working on a console version, but that we are fully dedicated to make the most kickass game for PC (I think the official statement did not use the word kickass, in case someone wants to semantically disect my post).

Lastly, a new ArenaNet blog revealed that the game will receive Spanish localization at launch.

Check out Guild Wars Insider for more details and audio clips from the conference call.
