As a Paladin I am thrilled to hear the following news from Blizzard. One of our biggest weaknesses (aside from HORRIBLE DPS) is the lack of abilities to either prevent PvP run away, the ability to chase runners down, to hit runners with range damage, or any method to get away our self. While the following is not an escape from combat, nor a true escape prevention method, it is a ranged damage method and should help.
Hammer of Wrath!
In the next patch, at level 44 Paladins will have a new spell available to them called "Hammer of Wrath". This spell, useable only on wounded targets is a ranged attack which does holy damage. This spell is primarily designed to give Paladins greater control when fighting enemies which choose to flee.
In addition to this, I have heard that Paladins are next to be looked at after Hunters and Druids. I can't wait.
