Piglet Extends Contract With Team Liquid...or Is Leaving

by on Sep 28, 2015

This might be slightly complicated

Earlier today, a report came from The Daily Dot, stating that sources have informed them that Team Liquid's AD Carry, Chae "Piglet" Gwang-jin is leaving the League of Legends team. After missing the chance to go to the Season 5 World Championships despite finishing the regular season of the NA LCS Summer Split in first place, the team appears ready to make some changes. There have already been reports that Support player Alex "Xpecial" Chu will be replaced, and now it's being said that Liquid is searching for Piglet's replacement, with Aleš "Freeze" Kněžínek the apparent front-runner.

By itself, this news would not be considered completely surprising, given Liquid's desire to shake up the roster after losing to Cloud9 in the gauntlet match, missing out on their spot at Worlds. However, there is one fairly significant wrinkle in this story. Team Liquid's co-owner, Steve Arhancet, posted this to Reddit, an image from the organization's official Instagram account:

Given that Piglet wouldn't be extending his contract if he was leaving the team, this story has gotten fairly interesting. This would certainly make it seem as though Piglet is staying, despite what The Daily Dot's sources have said. While it appears that Team Liquid is having fun with this, this might be as official a statement as we're going to get from them on the matter. Unless something else changes, it would appear that Piglet will be playing for Liquid next year.
