Revamped HUD Will Be Heading to Ranked Games in 5.15 Patch

It's finally ready!

The brand new HUD for League of Legends certainly changed the way we look at the game, but it wasn't all for the better. While opinions were overall divided on the new layout, there were undeniably some real issues that needed to be worked out. This meant that the old HUD was still being used for ranked play, as Riot Games recognized that it could have a negative impact for some players.

They have made a bevy of improvements, and believe that the new-style HUD is ready for all game modes in the next patch. While Riot has stated that some improvements may be made in the future, they believe it has been improved enough that it should no longer have a negative impact on the players' game experience. This is the list of all changes made:

Readability

New font and styling Larger team frames, meters, and ult timers Full square cooldown indicator New colors differentiating “on cooldown” and “out of mana” Larger stat icons and text Larger Ping and FPS displays Scoreboard now has more padding, larger champ portraits, and larger fonts Added drop shadow to chat Brighter XP bar Larger Summoner spell timers on the scoreboard Active ability events have been changed to gold (level up, toggle, just off cd) to differentiate from unavailable (cooldown, OoM)

Animation and Audio

Shortened and pulled back on many animations including “level up”, “just off cooldown”, and toggles Scaled back many audio cues

Layout

CS, KDA, and Team KDA has rejoined game time in the top right Scoreboard improvements including larger and clearer summoner spell and respawn timers

Misc

Added colored bonus stats Added cast bars for all abilities other than instant casts Swapped Crit and Attack Range in player stats Mute buttons on the Scoreboard are now always visible Minimap can now be scaled smaller

So, what are your thoughts? Have they done enough that you'll now welcome the new HUD in your ranked games? I'm personally excited for the changes, though I still think they should wait until after Worlds to introduce the HUD into professional games.
