Kingdoms of Amalur and Project Copernicus get groomed for the market as the last vestige of the 38 Studios carcass gets picked clean.

38 Studios is all but gone at this point, and the last remnants of the once hopeful studio founded by former Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Curt Schilling is about to be sold off by Rhode Island to recoup some of the reportedly more than $130 million debt from the deal that brought the studio to the state. One of the state’s lawyers, Richard J. Land, is currently preparing the studio's game assets for sale to potential buyers. Among those titles are the two games that the studio is known for with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Copernicus as well as the library of titles under the Big Huge Games label. The game IPs are likely the most valuable assets belonging to the studio, but it won't bring anywhere near the $130 million.

Land isn’t alone in his work this week. Other lawyers of Rhode Island are also working to bring a case against Schilling and 13 other executives from 38 Studios claiming such allegations as larceny, manipulation of the EDC board and falsifying information.
