Linden Lab, makers of the popular adult-oriented MMOG, Second Life, has undergone restructuring, resulting in a 30% reduction in its staff. According to Gamasutra, Linden Labs stated its goal is to "increase focus on its consumer business and make investments that will make its virtual goods marketplace more accessible and popular with users through browser-based and mobile applications."

Despite reporting a record quarter for user-to-user transactions in the game, reportedly $160 million in the first three months of 2010, Linden Lab proceeded with the restructuring stating that the move better aligns the company with its long-term goals.

Our best wishes go out to all those affected by the layoffs.
