Eyonix posted the following last night, letting us all know that Blizzard is crediting everyone with a free days credit. This is due to the many issues with the authentication server recently.

Last night, we had to perform urgent maintenance on our authentication system to address a hardware failure. Early this morning, we were able to restore the authentication service, and players were once again able to log in to their World of Warcraft realms. Because players were unable to log in to the game during peak playing time yesterday as a result of the emergency maintenance, we will be applying a one-day credit to all players’ accounts.

While we don’t currently anticipate doing further maintenance on the authentication system this evening, we do want to make everyone aware that during peak hours, game login might be sluggish. We’ll continue to monitor this situation closely and do what we can to ensure that players are able to access the game, while also doing our best to avoid further peak-hour downtime.

In the near future, we will be migrating to an improved authentication platform, which should alleviate a majority of the login issues that we’ve seen during peak times. We’ll provide further details on this authentication upgrade as soon as we can.
