Sony Playstation 3 users are entering have been without service for a week now following the "external intrusion" on the Playstation Network system last week that may have compromised millions of users personal details. While Sony doesn't believe credit card information was compromised, they have also not ruled it out as a possibility. A recent update to the Playstation Network website looks to aim a little light on what happened and what Sony is doing to protect your personal information in the future. Despite Sony's efforts, it may be quite some time before they regain consumer trust following this epic breach of security.

DC Universe Online (DCUO) and Free Realms players on the PS3 have also been unable to access their MMOGs during the outage, but may have been spared any security concerns since Sony Online Entertainment's (SOE) systems are separate from the PSN. This doesn't negate the fact that these players have been without access to their MMOGs for a week and this does in many cases involve players that are paying a monthly subscription fee. Luckily, SOE is working on a "make good" plan for players affected by the outage. More details will be posted at a later time on the DCUO PS3 and Free Realms PS3 forums about what SOE will be doing to set things right with players.
