Square Enix Reassessing Final Fantasy XIV World Merger Process

Square Enix removes Final Fantasy XIV server merger announcement from last week in light of player feedback.

Square Enix announced plans to merge the worlds of Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) in March last week. But the method of doing the mergers didn’t sit well with many players due to issues with inactive players being arbitraily placed, naming issues and the process in general that many perceived as not very community friendly. In an effort to put together a better method of merging the worlds, Square Enix today removed the original FFXIV announcement following community feedback and announced that they will be reassessing the method of the merger process to ensure a more desirable outcome.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the wealth of feedback you have provided us with following the announcement made on February 9, 2012 (Thursday), regarding the World merge and character transfers. In order to ensure that the most desirable and effective outcome is achieved, we will be reassessing the method of the merger process.

New details on the World merge will be made public as they become available in the Topics section of the Lodestone.
