The Secret World Developer Update Talks Tokyo and Beyond

Joel Bylos returns from his hiatus with an update on The Secret World’s development and release of Tokyo.

After taking a lengthy break for the holidays to recharge his batteries, Game Director Joel Bylos has returned to the office to deliver the latest update for The Secret World (TSW).

With the Whispering Tide public raid event in its final phase, Bylos discussed recent changes to the release of the Tokyo playfield, the first of which sees the Issue #9 update split into two parts. The first part will include the new story missions, maps and the new AEGIS system. The second part will add the remaining missions. Unfortunately, this also means that the update will be delayed by a few more weeks.

“The first is that the Issue #9 patch has divided into two parts – one containing the story mission, AEGIS system and the new maps and areas and a second patch containing “all the rest” of the missions. This was mostly done for the benefit of the cinematic team, who are the last in the pipeline of story creation and have a backlog of cut scenes to create.”

Bylos also addressed community criticisms and concerns about TSW’s new Mystery Boxes and discussed the upcoming AEGIS system, PvP changes, and new Mission Packs.
