The Playstation Network's exclusive new reality show, The Tester, will premier on February 18th, 2010. Along with the announcement comes a new trailer to offer a look at the show, which seems very much like an attempt to portray a combination of Survivor and American Idol in a gaming format.
Sitting on the show's judges panel are such names as actor and comedian Hal Sparks, Brent Gocke, a Release Manager for Sony Online Entertainment, and David Jaffe, Director and Lead Designer of God of War. However, the person that seems to shine the most in the trailer is the Producer of Playstation Home, Katherine De Leon, who seems to be the panels resident Simon Cowell. She does her best impersonation of the American Idol madman as she glares down on one contestant with an icy stare and informs them that they are the worst performer by a mile. And then she pours a little more salt into the teary eyed contestant's wound by saying it again.
11 contestants will compete in a series of elimination challenges with the winning contestant earning a $5000 signing bonus and a job as a Playstation Game tester.
