Online games like World of Warcraft (WoW)are becoming subjects of study for many people on social interaction. The Rebel Yell, the student newspaper for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), reports that a study being conducted at UNLV, using WoW as a model, is aimed at learning from the social interaction between players in an online gaming environment to better improve future games and put the knowledge to other beneficial uses.

The study aims to quantify the social interactions of participants in the game so that future online games can build better environments. The research evaluates people who play online games and how they project their personality inside those virtual worlds or play as fantasy characters.
