Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade New Roundup - Early Launch & Console Confirmed

by on Aug 19, 2015

It looks like you may get to play WH40k earlier than the development team had originally assumed.

In the latest State of the Crusade, Nathan Richardsson announced that Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade will be launching earlier than expected and that it'll be heading to console for sure. This is an exciting thing for fans who probably are really itching to get to play it. It seems like there will be an NDA, at the start, but that's not too big of an issue in my opinion. Part of me wants to scream what about the consumer, but then another part of me knows that talking about a game that's barely working that they're letting people in super early who have paid for the privledge can lead to bad things - see Landmark, in a certain kind of way.

Yes! Founder’s Access (or Closed Alpha, to use the industry term) is actually coming earlier than before. The trade-off is that we’re starting with an NDA during the rusty first few weeks. Nothing to do with something that could be embarrassing for us. If that was the case, we wouldn’t have me on the forums ;)

The NDA is simply a very small price to pay and I accept it, compared to the huge benefit of getting Founder’s in, starting playtesting earlier and affect the direction of the game.

I'm fine with the NDA, as long as it's short term, but in this modern world of anoymous mouths, I hope that they provide enough information about the game that players don't feel like they're covering something up. In other news though, it's coming to console, but your Founder's Pack won't work with the console edition.

Finally, recently, David Ghozland, the game's Creative Director, announced he is leaving the studio. This isn't a good or bad thing considering most of his creative work is already probably documented as a blueprint for the game, but we all of course wish David the best of luck in his future adventures. You can read the thread here, and post a goodbye message if you so what. I'm sure he'd appreciate it. Here's the latest State of the Crusade.

Something I see a lot of is comments saying they wish this was an MMO. I'll be touching on that in an article coming soon.
