Blizzard is warning players to change the email addresses associated with their World of Warcraft Battle.net accounts if the email associated with it is the same as the one used with a Gawker account.

Basically Gawker (who own sites like Kotaku, IO9 and Lifehacker) got hacked this week. The reasons why are a bit complicated and don’t really matter but email and password data was released onto the net causing a number of sites (such as Amazon, LinkedIn and FaceBook) to ask members to change their passwords, just to be safe.

Blue Lylirra took some time out to post on the WoW community site offering advice. Basically, the short version is go an change your Battle.net email address just to be sure. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry, right? I knew that one comment on Lifehacker about getting a Google Wave invite was going to come back and haunt me …
