World of Warcraft Expansion Announced: Called Legion

by on Aug 06, 2015

WoW's expansion has been announced as Gamescom, titled "Legion," will set the level cap to 110 and contain a new continent "Broken Isles."

The next World of Warcraft expansion will be called "World of Warcraft: Legion" and will raise the level cap to 110 and include a swath of new content. The game will return to Azeroth, including a new continent known as the "Broken Isles" (last seen in Warcraft 3). The Burning Legion will begin their biggest invasion, ever, and it's up to everyone on Azeroth to not only repel the invasion, but stop it for good.

New features include artifact weapons, one for each class and spec (for instance, Ashbringer making a return). Lots of additional dungeons, new enemies, new raids, and a brand new hero class the Demon Hunter will be featured. Dalaran will be returning as a city floating above the new area. You will not have a new Garrison in this expansion, but instead, you will be leading your class's order to help build and unlock features of your artifact weapon.

There is some other information out like the transmog system will be revamped, but details like that haven't been gone over in the presentation yet.

PvP honor system is getting a complete revamp, with PvP styled talents instead of PvP gear. You'll gain up to 50 PvP levels and then be able to prestige the PvP levels, resetting to the start, in order to unlock cosmetic gear. In addition, all owners of the expansion will get a free level 100 character boost.

There is a lot more details coming out of Gamescom 2015 about the expansion, this was just the first rush into it, but I'm sure we'll have additional details in the following days.
