World of Warcraft to Add Racing Mini-Game

Blizzard moves in with a new addition to the Darkmoon Faire kart style racing!

Fans of Mario Kart style racing and World of Warcraf rejoice as these two marry into a mini-game "kart" racer in the latest addition to the Darkmoon Faire on the PTR. Expected to arrive to WoW in next patch, the Darkmoon Faire's "Mario Kart"-esq game so far includes only two powerups, the spring (which shoots you forward), and sprint, along with one negative effect which is a stun beam. As of playing it right now, the course feels incomplete, but, overall it looks to be a really cool and fun pasttime and I can't wait to see what players make of it in the live game.

Who knows, maybe we'll have WoW karting as an eSport?

So far, you start at the "start / finish" line and make your way through goal posts. At the end of the first major straight away, it takes a turn around the island and through the forest where you have to race against the "finishing tolls" which determine your peformance on the race. Various buffs (mentioned above) litter the speedway, so utilizing them and making a "perfect path" is going to be the way to success, as least in its current form.

Expect heavy iteration on it in coming updates to the PTR, but for now, this is one feature I'm looking forward to. I imagine that players can arrange for their own races, lining up at the starting line together and making a run for it. In addition, there is room for a lot of interesting features (more buffs / debuffs) and maybe even weapons at some point. I'm super looking forward to it.

Players can try out Darkmoon Faire's race via the PTR, those who don't want the hefty download can look into seeing it arrive next patch. Achievements, rewards, etc. are already in for players who finish the race and be sure to stick to Ten Ton Hammer as we provide coverage of this Darkmoon Faire update.
