Today Perfect World Entertainment put out a trailer for the upcoming Rise of Tiamat module, the next major content update to hit Neverwinter. Rise of Tiamat launches on November 18, which will be free to all players. Tiamat has been resurrected from the depts of the Nine Hells by the Cult of the Dragon. Tiamat's return threatens all of Neverwinter, making it crucial for adventurers to band together to fight the mother of all dragons. Tiamat's arrival will be marked by the continuation of the Siege of Neverwinter event, which will continue storylines brought up in the previous module, Tyranny of Dragons. In conjunction with Rise of Tiamat coming to Neverwinter, Wizards of the Coast is also bringing a complementary storyline is coming to the Dungeons and Dragons tabletop.

In anticipation for the launch of Neverwinter: Rise of Tiamat, Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic are revitalizing the popular Neverwinter in-game event, Respen’s Marvelous Game, from Nov. 13 to Nov. 17. Originally launched on April 1, Respen’s Marvelous Game transforms a party of adventurers into miniature statuettes as they take part in adventures that resemble classic Dungeons & Dragons tabletop campaigns.

The only responses in direct relation for the video so far are about the mount shown crossing a suspension bridge. With each step the mount takes, swirls of shadow float up from its hooves. It's a pretty nice looking mount, so it's understandable that people will be interested in it. The larger focus of community responses comes from the patch notes from what is currently on the Preview Shard (Neverwinter's test server). While there isn't a lot in the notes, there is one line in particular has the community rather unhappy: “All enchantments and other items that give RP dropped through Fey Blessing, Dragon Hoard and Tymora's Blessing enchantments are now Bound to Account.”

The main point of contention here is that with this move, Perfect World Entertainment would be aiding the need of bots, rather than combating the issue. People are saying that by making these Bind on Account, that people who are otherwise stand-up players will feel the need to resort to botting just to obtain RP. While I can only make an assumption here, my bet is that this change will come before the store gets updated and people are finding more things to buy with real life cash. PWE is known for putting in microtransations that players will feel are necessary to gameplay. Players will especially need more RP with all of the new artifact gear coming to the game with the Rise of Tiamat module. I just think it's weird that rather than harnessing interdependency from players in the game, PWE is choosing to push for each player to work on everything solo. I do also wonder how this will affect the economy with something like this removed from it.

The developer who posted the patch notes did say that later on in the thread that these concerns from the community has been forwarded on to the team for review, which should be in discussion today. What will become of this review, and whether or not this change will be reverted before these changes go live on the 18th. If they keep the changes, I would suggest having a very solid reason for this change and let the community know what that is.
