The Witcher 3 Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and Lead Quest Designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz recently sat down for another chat with Game Informer to talk about the third and final open-world installment of The Witcher series.

In the video, the two discuss their plans to expand the world in the third game and include Geralt’s horse that so many players have been asking for. More interestingly, Konrad delved into the importance of immersion and characters of The Witcher 3, comparing some elements to other RPGs on the market such as Skyrim, which he referred to as "generic" in its design of story and NPC responses to players based on their actions. Konrad explained that a player’s actions should be reflected by the NPCs that their decisions in the world may have impacted by those characters discussing what the player may have done that helped or hurt their situation, citing characters from The Witcher 2 as an example.

Konrad also discussed the generic feeling characters from Skyrim, noting that he tried to recall five from memory but couldn’t. But Konrad and Mateusz both agreed that Skyrim had some great elements of open-world exploration that can be learned from and made some observations on other games such as Assassin’s Creed 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
