Previously players had to go through a complicated process to install and play the game using Java. But now it’s just as simple as clicking a desktop shortcut.
The Desktop Edition is currently in private beta testing, so you may be wondering just how to get in. Archive Entertainment also launched a crowdsourcing fundraiser, which you can opt into with a number of different options, but if you choose the $9.99 option or higher, you’ll gain access to the Desktop Edition beta along with an assortment of in-game items. Archive Entertainment hopes to raise $1,000 to upgrade the game’s server and has announced a stretch goal of $1,600 as well, which will net a Mac Edition. If the campaign hits those two targets, additional stretch goals will be announced.
