The game allows players to build their own buildings, castles, towns, and more solo or with friends and also engage in PvP and PvE gameplay. Previously players had to go through a complicated process to install and play the game using Java. But now it’s just as simple as clicking a desktop shortcut.

The Desktop Edition is currently in private beta testing, so you may be wondering just how to get in. Archive Entertainment also launched a crowdsourcing fundraiser, which you can opt into with a number of different options, but if you choose the $9.99 option or higher, you’ll gain access to the Desktop Edition beta along with an assortment of in-game items. Archive Entertainment hopes to raise $1,000 to upgrade the game’s server and has announced a stretch goal of $1,600 as well, which will net a Mac Edition. If the campaign hits those two targets, additional stretch goals will be announced.

In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below and visit the 8BitMMO website to learn more, pick up the standard client, or pledge and join the private beta.
