Spitshine, polish, wax, done!
Age of Conan Lead Designer Ole Herbjornsen talks a little bit about polish and optimization at his 1UP.com blog.
In my last update I mentioned the polish and optimization process. This is a process which has been going on for some time and will be going on all the way up to launch. The optimizations can be done both in code, in data or both. It could be anything from reducing the number of ground textures used by the game (data) to turning off rendering of certain objects at a certain distance (code) to changing to a different texture format and increasing performance (code + data).
