Sgt. Hammer excels at holding a point. Make sure you are to an objective early to set up to force the enemy team to fight into you.
Sgt. Hammer has many tools to deal with dive. Use your W to knock back enemies who get too close or just E for some armor to negate burst.
Sgt. Hammer's Z allows her to relocate quickly during a fight. If enemies are pushing in too far, Z back and siege up again.
