While meeting with Executive Producers for a quick interview and PR
plug for their latest game is De rigueur at the various gaming
conventions we attend, it is a rare occasion when you gain access to
two of them in one spot for any extended amount of time. We here at Ten
Ton Hammer were able to pull off that miraculous feat this year at GDC
when we sat down with Cryptic's dynamic duo of Bill Roper and Craig
Zinkievich in the well appointed cafe of The InterContinental. In lieu
of scones and crepes, we instead gorged ourselves on information about Champions
and Star Trek Online, what the future holds for
Cryptic's two highest profile games, and the importance of open lines
of communication.

Craig: Expect going forward, and Bill can
speak to this to, one of the things that Cryptic is going to try and do
is to over communicate, to get on the forums and enable more people
within the company to actually communicate with the players and tell
players things that are going on that maybe other MMO companies won’t
say. “You can’t tell them that! That may change” or “Don’t go out there
and communicate to them that we are addressing that issue because who
knows, something might go wrong and that issue may not get resolved as
fast as possible”.

Join us for a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice, a muffin and an
interview (juice and muffin not included) in href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/gdc2010/cryptic"
