Anyone that's been on the online gaming scene for the last decade knows how well Blizzard has dominated with the Diablo, Warcraft and StarCraft series. Taking an amazing amount of time with each game's development cycle, Blizzard has amassed a huge following for its library of titles. World of Warcraft (WoW) has remained seemingly untouched by all new competition in the MMOG market, continuing to grow year after year and never seeming to lose momentum. But with the upcoming launch of Diablo III, could the game that brings down Blizzard's flagship MMOG be made by Blizzard?

While some might think the game that could do this is Blizzard's other MMOG project currently codenamed Titan, Blizzard's own EVP of Product Development Frank Pearce believes that Diablo III could be the one to do it. Speaking with Gamasutra, Pearce was asked if Titan might cannibalize WoW's players, to which Pearce responded, "It's hard to say. I think even a shorter-term concern is whether or not we might see cannibalization of WoW players from Diablo III when we launch it, because it's a similar type of experience."

Pearce would still like to see the market grow and believes that there's room for other companies to make a successful game, but he also notes that if someone has to cannibalize WOW's players, it might as well be Blizzard.
