Cryptic Studios has been dropping hints over the last few months that they have been developing a new game. But it is not an MMORPG as many had originally thought. Instead, Cryptic and Atari have announced Neverwinter, a Dungeons and Dragons-based co-op RPG based on events from an upcoming trilogy of books being written by R.A Salvatore and is scheduled to launch in Q4 2011.

Players will get to choose from the familiar five classes of a Fighter, Wizard, Rogue, Ranger, and Cleric. GameSpot scored an interview with Cryptic's COO Jack Emmert to learn more about the game's setting and content. An official press release has also been made available.
