The MMOGamer caught up with John Blakely, head of SOE Austin for an interview about DC Universe. While there's not a lot of talk about the substance of the game itself, a lot of insight is given into the thinking behind it.
One of the things that we wanted to do was to make sure we took a careful amount of time to do a lot of deep pre-production on the product, and really understand what it is we were making, play what we were making, and then start talking about it, so that we could give the fans some answers and actually get them engaged.
This is DC Universe Online its a daunting task, because theres probably seventy years of continuity to pick from. We have in our license about 150 iconic characters, and those are heroes, villains, supporting cast, plus all the spaces and places that they play in and live in. Thats a lot of stuff to create and tie together into one unified game.
