Death is a part of life. It's also a part of most video games. Without a penalty for failure, the victories just don't mean as much. In this weekly Common Content editorial, we take a look at death, video games, and Guild Wars.

In the video game world, death is something to avoid. It's annoying, dang it. It's not, however, very scary. The stakes of game-death are so low that we can legitimately get a chuckle out of it, especially when it happens to someone else. Does that make us weird? Not really. It just means that we're talking about an entirely different kind of death.
