Anthem's launch and its various dates can be confusing. I've read a lot of people being unsure of what they need to play the demo, or even gain early access. Here's the simple version.

[Update] The VIP Demo also comes with 3 codes you can pass to friends, allowing you to make a full four-man team!

VIP Demo

The demo of Anthem begins on January 25-27. You can only play the VIP Demo if you have done one of the following:

  • Pre-ordered
  • Joined Origin Access
  • Joined EA Access

To pre-order the game, go here. To join Origin Access ($14,99 a month), go here. To join EA Access ($4,99 a month), go here.

  • If you only want to play the Demo, it's best to join EA Access, as it's the cheapest option.
  • The best value overall is Origin Access as you gain access to their full library of games.
  • If you only want to play Anthem (and have no interest in what else EA has to offer), buy Anthem directly.

In the long-run, any subscription and its cost over 12 months will eclipse the base purchase price of the game. In addition, ending your subscription to Origin Access or EA Access removes any ability to play them in the future, until you resubscribe.

Open Demo

A no-strings attached open beta, the open demo runs from 1-3 February. It'll be available on all platforms.

Early Access

For those that subscribe to Origin Access, they have the opportunity to play Anthem early, from February 15. If you don't subscribe, even if you've pre-ordered their most expensive edition of the game, you will only be able to play from February 22. Desperate to play 7 days early? You'll have to subscribe with Origin Premier.

Release

Officially launching on the 22 February, you'll be able to play Anthem if you buy the game and don't subscribe or sign up to any other early access for the game.
