PETA have begun a new campaign highlighting the latest example of violence against animals in video games.

This time, their righteous crusade is against Red Dead Redemption 2, and the use of horses within such a historic setting.

“It’s barbaric how makers of video games think it’s okay to shoot guns around beautiful creatures, even ones that are used to a ranch way of life.” said PETA’s spokesperson.

“Having the main hero use weaponry near horses is not only unacceptable, but there's plenty of moments in Red Dead Redemption 2 where players go out their way to harm their horses."

PETA has serious welfare concerns about the horses in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The animal rights organisation has also expressed outrage at players being able to ride off a cliff, fearing that it could lead to worldwide copycat suicides, decimating horse populations.

“It’s clear that these nerd coders at Rockstar Games have little respect for animals. We demand they remove the horse from the Red Dead Redemption series of games, immediately.”

When we asked PETA if they had any misgivings about the fact guns were so prominent in Red Dead Redemption 2, and that you can freely shoot others, they were quick to answer.

"Killing humans is fine. We're cool with that. It’s why we have the 2nd Amendment. God bless America.”
