There are dragons in RIFT that need slaying and we question if you're a bad enough of a dude to take them out. Akylios and Greenscale return as tier 3 raid content in the patch 2.7 prelude patch, 2.6.1. These are originally tier 1 content dragons, but in the latest update you're going to fight all new versions of these dragony dragons in the past.

Woah! Sounds cool huh? But wait, there's more, there is also 20 some odd quests that lead up to the encounter to help you understand just why you're going on a magical adventure through time. These quests will be located in in the Runic Athenaeum, a library with an awesome hard to spell name.

Even more content awaits, each of these dragons have a mini-boss waiting for you at sort of yummy delicious appetizer to the bad dude dragons that want to spew fire and do other horrible dragon things. Gordon Ramsey himself would be impressed with not only the quantity of dragons, but also their rare done perfection.

In patch 2.7, which is a crazy huge patch with additional souls and all kinds of other cool junk, will feature the dragons Maelforge and Laethys. So if you don't get enough dragons now, oh boy there is more dragons in your future (well technically your past).

You'll want around 600 toughness and hit to take on these dragons and probably be loaded up in tier 2 raid gear. These dragons are really hard and it's taking current RIFT progression raiders quite a bit of work to defeat them. They drop tier 3 loot, the first of its kind, and now is a great time to farm it to get ready for the additional tier 3 raids coming in 2.7 and beyond.

It's interesting to note that this isn't the first time a dragon has came back to haunt players. Onyxia in World of Warcraft made a second appearance in Wrath of the Lich King as additional filler content. Although, to be honest, the way that RIFT is bringing their dragons back makes a little bit more sense. Essentially, you're going back into the past, when they were much more powerful and defeating them in their prime. This explains the bump in difficulty a little bit more than oh hey Onyxia is back and you better go put some more dots on her.

Comparison aside, if you're not excited for patch 2.7 then odds are you don't play RIFT, because it's one of the more impressive patches in my opinion. You get an expansion worth of content shoved into a free update for a free-to-play game. What more is there to desire? I think there is about four new souls, tons of new quests, and much more.

If you don't play RIFT, odds are you haven't read this far, but if you did and are curious, RIFT is a free-to-play game very similar to WoW. If you enjoy WoW, odds are you'll enjoy RIFT. Go give it a try today.
