Star Trek Online head start will begin tomorrow, but Cryptic Studios is already at work on the game's first update. In the January State of the Game, Star Trek Online Executive Producer Craig "Zinc" Zinkievich reflects on the recent end to the game's open beta and lays out future plans for the game that will include new mission episodes every few weeks.

The first update to the game will introduce more PvP, Klingon exploration content, additional ground fleet action, new ship costume pieces, more playable species, and much more. Zinkievich also announced that the team has a test shard that will be releasing soon named Tribble.

Expect a public test shard to become available real soon, too. We’ve named her "Tribble." This is where the brave Captains (read: addicted testers) amongst you can try out our changes before we push them live. If you’re one of those who can’t get enough of the bleeding edge of development – or have a penchant for finding bugs and balance issues – keep an eye on the forums for details.
