Turbine is stepping up its control of Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) as the company will be assuming control of the European version of DDO from Codemasters as it implements its new global service set to go live on August 20th, 2010. Once the transition is complete, Turbine will be offering free character transfers to the new global service. Turbine will also be providing 5000 Turbine Points to current and former European subscribers for their patience during the transfer.

We are working very closely with our partner Codemasters Online to facilitate a smooth transition to our new global service.  We will be providing free character transfers to the new global service and players will be notified when the character transfer is available.  Please note that all accounts will only be accessible through our English service until our new German and French services come online.

Codemasters, who has operated DDO for the last four years in Europe, has recently reached the end of their licensing agreement with Turbine and will be relinquishing control of the game to Turbine's. European players have still been paying a subscription for DDO, but that will soon change as it's brought into line with Turbine's free-to-play model enjoyed in North America. Codemasters' last day of operation will be August 19th, 2010. Additional information about the transition can be found in the DDO Service Transition FAQ.
