WoW: In-Depth Look at WotLK Warlock Talents – Demonology

In this in-depth look at the World of Warcraft Warlock Talents, we're going to be going over all the changes and new talents done for each talent tree of those published at Blizzard's site.

We will continue with the Demonology tree, a tree popular for those doing Arena and PvP mostly as it gave loads of survivability in the past, for both you and your pet, with the likes of Soul Link and Master Demonologist during the Burning Crusade.

As of writing this the talents are in no way finalized so things may change as Blizzard continues to balance before launch.

Demonology

Tier 1

No changes here

Tier 2

A talent has been changed - what was once Fel Intellect becomes now Fel Vitality, a new Talent that gives you 1% up to 3% more health and mana, and your demon 5% up to 15% more health and mana! A nice talent to replace the former intellect.

Tier 3

A bunch of changes here! The most noticeable one is that Soul Link is available readily at Tier 3! This is a big change and will open up a lot of new approaches to both PvP and PvE.

Other than that, Fel Stamina has vanished and is no longer available.

Tier 4

No changes here

Tier 5

Improved Enslave Demon has been moved down one tier

Tier 6

Improved Enslave Demon is now available here, for a total of 3 available talents from this tier.

Tier 7

New Talent - Demonic Empowerment. Grants your pet Demonic Empowerment, which will let your pet do the following for 6% of your base mana cost (1 min cooldown):

Succubus - removes all stuns, snares, and movement impairing effects while allowing her into a deeper invisibility state

Voidwalker - Increases his health by 20% and his threat by 20%

Imp - Increases the Imp's spell critical strike chance by 20%.

Felhunter - Dispels all magical effects from the Felhunter.

Fel Guard - Increases the Fel Guard's attack speed by 20% and breaks all stun, snare and movement impairing effects and makes your Fel Guard immune to them.

This is a great little talent to have for PvP, as it will allow your pets to stay alive longer and give you more options to deal with your opponents!

Tier 8

New Talent - Fel Synergy. Your summoned demons share an additional 5%/10% of your armor, intellect and stamina, and has a 50% or 100% chance to heal your pet for 15% of the amount of damage you take.

Demonology proves once more that it is one of the top PvP trees as this one will again increase the survivability of your demons against other players, when it is common to take them out first before focusing on anyone else!

Tier 9

New Talent - Demonic Empathy. When you or your pet get critically hit, the other has a 33/66/100% chance of having their casting or attack speed increased by 30% for 8 seconds.

Once more another PvP talent, if your enemies focus too much on your pet, you will be able to fear and focus fire them down faster should they crit it.

New Talent - Improved Demonic Tactics. Your demon has a 10/20/30% more critical strike chance based on yours. If you're using damaging demons, your pet will be scoring more critical hits this way!

Tier 10

New Talent - Demonic Pact. Your pet's critical hits apply the demonic pact debuff on your target, increasing the spell damage they take for 2% up to 10% of your spell damage for 12 seconds.

Finally a nice PvE Talent as well, this debuff will be appreciated by some raids if you've specced this far, and coupled with Improved Demonic Tactics, will be quite a combo to improve group DPS as well.

Tier 11

New Talent - Metamorphosis. Arguably the coolest talent the Warlocks will have, this spell transforms you into a Dreadlord, increasing your armor by 360% and giving you all-new abilities, also de-summoning your pet. This lasts 45 seconds and has a 5 minute cooldown. The abilities you gain are powerful and time will dictate how viable using this spell is in the future!
