Perhaps even more than any other class in World of Warcraft, Death Knights are known for their silly names. Many players simply don’t  feel the need nor care to spend much time naming a character that starts right at level 55. Others eventually reach a point of frustration when they discover that 99.9% of all decent names have already been taken on their server, and don’t even get me started on how useless the random name generator is at this point.

With the Death Knight zerg still going strong many years after Wrath of the Lich King’s launch, and plenty of awful new character names being churned out daily, we decided to compile a list of our top 10 favorites. 10. Mancheese: This one is interesting because it’s a combination of “man” and “cheese” two things that I’m not sure fit for a being of death and destruction. Is this Death Knight a block of cheese or is it a man? It’s really hard to tell when it comes to Death Knights, since most people who play them are naturally a mixture of both.

9. Scrubble: This name makes me think “Scrubbing Bubbles” and reminds me I need to get my toilet clean. The name isn’t horribly bad, but it made me look twice at how strange it is to say. Say it out loud five times fast. Scrubble. It sounds like Disney’s new under the sea adventure.

8: Potatoofdoom: Doom potatoes used to be a rare breed until Plants vs. Zombies began producing them from sunshine. It’s strange how often Death Knight names are a combination of one, two, or three words and rarely one entire word or name.

7: Dontdieplez: The reason I think this is an excellent name for any Death Knight is because it sounds as if they’re not a Death Knight and more of a healer. How often have you heard a healer say “don’t die please” whenever someone does something stupid and the healer has to compensate for it?

6: Ilovetoe: The love of a toe is something I find rather strange. On one hand, it is a Death Knight, so maybe they enjoy collecting the toes of the dead? On the other hand, you have to think really hard on who would proclaim to the world their love of toes.

5: Lasagna: This one is straight forward, to the point, and a simple one word name. Lasagna. A simple food name that makes us think of that orange haired, zany cat Garfield. That also got me to thinking, are there any Death Knights named Cabbage? Sure enough, using the PlayerScore search I was able to find several DKs with this ingenious name.

Remember folks, when in doubt you can always name your Death Knight after last night’s leftovers since, you know, they’re kind of already the Lich King’s leftovers…

4: Adeathknight: Sometimes you need to introduce yourself so that people understand just who you are. This name tells all. “A Death Knight.” It’s very descriptive and suits the class very well. Heck, I could see it helping in raid scenarios. “A Death Knight, get out of the fire!” “What? Just one or do you want all of us?”

3: Itscoldhere: BlizzCon is known for being frosty and this winter has been one for the record books. This Death Knight understands exactly how he or she feels right now. They’re cold.

2: Limppickle: I don’t have much to say about this one, I think it honestly speaks for itself. I mean, death knights are just reanimated corpses, so it stands to reason that their pickles would be limp, right?

1. Arthas (or any combination thereof) or TheLichKing: No list would be complete until the #1 spot was taken up by those ingenious Death Knights who name their DK after Arthas using those awesome alt codes or somehow insinuate that they themselves are the Lich King.
