Our wetnaps, mustard-stained ties, and earplugs are packed for whats
sure to be an eventful E3 2010 this week. As you read this, Ben de la
Durantaye, Stacy Jones, Reuben Waters, and yours truly are
coursing through the uncomfortable skies to bring you a full week of
coverage live from the event floor at E3 2010.
On Friday,
we looked at some of the biggest developers and games that wont make
an appearance (at least in an official capacity) at E3 2010. In todays
Loading
, well slough off the bad mojo and preview some of our most
anticipated appointments at E3 this week.
In past years weve presented an award for the biggest surprise of the
show. Its really not meant to be backhanded compliment, but its often
taken as such since if a game takes us and our community largely by
surprise, maybe the promo team might not have been firing on all
cylinders prior to the event. In any case, its not the sort of award
we see represented prominently in the trophy case during studio
visits. This year, however, we had several big surprises
before the show, as we can up big on appointments with several big
names or rising stars in the industry that heretofore hadnt revealed
much (at all or lately) about their games.
First up, THQ and the project everyone refers to as simply the
Warhammer 40K MMO. We know nothing about this game except that any
conversation about a 40K MMOG leads almost explicably to a conversation
about the Duke Nukem Forever of the MMORPG world the Fallout MMOG.
Both are big time IPs bestselling prequels and offer incredible online
world(s) potential, yet both seemed equally improbable candidates to
cross the massively multiplayer chasm due to sheer expense and rabid
fan expectations (which are increasingly one and the same) alone.
Bethesda would also like a word with us, though were not sure what
about quite yet. We do, however, know its high time for another Elder
Scrolls game, and wait with all of you to see if the rumors of an
Oblivion MMOG have any truth to them.
We havent heard much about
href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/taxonomy/term/306">Jumpgate
Evolution since the project came under the Gazillion
umbrella, but thats about to change. Following a naughty tease of a
race reveal, the sequel to the MMOG categories first frequent flyer
seems set to roar back on to the scene at this years E3. And because

chief competition,

hate PUGS
Waitaminute! What's wrong with pugs? I mean, I know they shed, and
their breathing patterns are reminiscent of a heavy-breather obscene
phone call, but...oh, wait.
Cheap jokes aside, OneEyeRed, who is a dog lover and possibly likes
pugs of the furry variety, hates the PUG that acronymically represents
pick-up groups. And now his thread dissing the PUG can become your own
sounding board. Have you had some terrible PUG experiences? Or maybe

Ten
Ton Hammer was recently invited to visit Blizzard Entertainment for a
sneak peak at the most recent build of the upcoming Cataclysm expansion
for World of Warcraft. Among the many gameplay elements shown were some
of the majorly revamped and new zones scattered throughout old world
Azeroth.
Between the devastation caused by Deathwing, the
Forsaken finally coming into their own, Garrosh setting up shop in
Orgrimmar and other world shaping events featured in the expansion, the
Azeroth you currently know and love will indeed be a vastly different

highly anticipated spacefaring MMOG that many feel would be EVE for
the masses, Jumpgate Evolution, has been making lots of news
recently.
