Trion Worlds has significantly turned up their development efforts for Defiance. Since December, Trion has pumped out a new DLC each month for Defiance, and today they’ve announced another in that quickening cadence with Arktech Revolution. As the fifth installment of Defiance DLC, Arktech Revolution will bring an increase to the EGO cap, improvements to EGO rating and enemy difficulty tiers, and expert co-op maps and dynamic event scaling based on the players participating.

In addition to all of those handy little changes, grenades, spikes and stims will be getting some new changes with enemies now dropping charge items that can refill the consumables. If you’re capped out, excess charges will be salvaged when picked up.

Last but certainly not least, weapon damage types will be getting another overhaul. Here’s a sample of what’s in the works.

  • Incendiary: Deals increased damage to health and less to shields.
  • Electric: Deals increased damage to shields and less to health.
  • Syphon: Steals some health from shield damage and lots from health damage.
  • Radiation: Deals a percentage of damage directly, bypassing armor plates.
  • Bio: Deals increased damage to armor plates.

Additionally, Trion is also adding a new passive damage mitigation buff provided by shield equipment and temporary perks, stims, and spikes. Armor doesn’t regenerate like shields and will break after a certain amount of damage, but it can be repaired at extraction points.

That’s not all that Trion has planned. In the coming weeks Technical Design Director Peter Ju and Creative Lead Trick Dempsey will be discussing more of the big changes coming to Defiance.

Arktech Revolution is scheduled to release on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 this April. In the meantime, check out the full announcement for more details.
