The Beginners
Guide to Thestran Faction

By Martuk

Ever feel like you’re just not wanted? Have problems walking
into a town to find people looking at you funny? Do you get a mace
across the forehead when you try to enter Bordinar's Cleft? I sure did!

But never fear, Martuk is here, and I bring with me the newbie guide to
Thestra faction. This should help some of you find a way to redeem
yourself in the eyes of certain races who would like nothing more than
to see you in the middle of town impaled on a burning stake while the
town folk roast marshmallows over your dead, decaying, burning body.

Bordinar's Cleft

Let’s look at our first stop and the one that caused me, a
Varanjar warrior, so much grief--Bordinar's Cleft and the dirty dwarves
who occupy it. It seems the dwarves of Bordinar's Cleft are not too
friendly with the Oath Breaker dwarves. Bring down enough of these foes
and the dwarves of the Cleft will welcome you into their home. You can
find the treacherous Oath Breaker dwarves along the south and east
roads from Bordinar's Cleft. They have even built a stronghold within
the mountain region around the cleft. Some hide out in the
depths of Khegor’s End in Three Rivers.

Faction rundown will be + for a positive influence faction hit and
– for a negative faction hit.

Tursh Village and Rindol Field

Tursh village and Rindol field reside just east of Bordinar's Cleft.
Those who have trouble passing safely through these two villages might
need to earn the trust of the humans and halflings who reside there.
You can do this by bringing down some of the less-than-friendly
population within the area such as the Riftseeker’s. These
evil beings have set up a camp to the north of Tursh, and have also
taken over an area to the southeast and built a stronghold there called
Riftseeker’s Torrent. Deal with them and you shall be
accepted by the two villages with open arms.

Another foul enemy of these 2 cities is the Redcap Brownies to the
west. These brownies run the fields west of Tursh and Rindol, and have
even taken over the Rindol Storehouse. Help fight back the Redcaps to
earn the trust of two grateful cities and find yourself welcome within
their boundaries.

Leth Nurae

In the middle of the Thestran continent lays the High Elf city of Leth
Nurae. The elves are a pure and good, albeit slightly arrogant, race.
Adventurer’s of some races, such as orcs and dark elves, may
find their presence not welcome within the elvish city. To gain safe
passage from the queen’s guard you will need to earn the
trust of the elven people. You can do this by assisting them in ridding
their lands of the Kaon wisp infestation that is plaguing
their city. To the south of Leth Nurae you will find a variety of Kaon
presence from wisp, fairies, and even doppelgangers. Help the elves
fight back the Kaon outbreak and you could earn safe passage through
Leth Nurae.

Halgarad and Dahknarg

On the eastern side of Thestra live the two neighboring cities of
Halgarad and Dahknarg. Halgarad is the home of the noble varanjar and
their close allies the lesser giants. To the south, in the city of
Dahknarg, lie their neighbors the vulmane. Some adventurers
may find themselves unwelcome in the city limits. Dwarves are one race
unwelcome in Halgarad. Do not despair, as with each conflict comes an
opportunity. Adventurer’s wishing to gain access and safe
passage through Halgarad or Dahknarg can earn the trust of the two
cities by helping rid the lands of their common foes. To the south
Bloodhowlers and the Broken Fang clan have moved against these two
cities. Aiding in their fight against these hostile foes can not only
earn you safe passage through the city, but the respect of the warrior
like races as well.

Due to some races' natural distrust of outsiders we must
earn safe passage through their territory. Throughout Thestra
there are many other factions and many ways to gain or lose it. This
guide is intended to aid players in a basic way to gain faction with
all starting cities. This is by no means the only way, and there are
countless others. May this guide aid you in your long journey
ahead, and provide you with some knowledge to help you complete the
journey safely.
