Completion Quests

style="font-weight: bold;">Disclaimer:
 As of July 25, 2007, the Pantheon of the Ancients quest
series is
bugged.   Sometimes the mobs won't spawn, or the quest won't
update, or other various bugs.  Some quests may be
completable,
but proceed at your own risk.

The Avatar of Vol Anari

The Avatar of Vol Anari can be found in the third cubby on the right in
the Corridor of the Pure.  Head there now. Once again, kill
the Champions outside the cubby lest they cause you problems later on.

You'll find out that Vol Anari is a do-gooder.  He's a tad
fanatic.  He'll tell you that everyone and everything is
tainted by at least a little bit of impurity.  He's got a plan
though!  A man with a plan; he's going to torch the world with
his Righteous Flame which only the Pure will survive.  Sounds
a bit apocolyptic, but what the heck.  Accept his quest to get
those fires burning.

Righteous Flame

As anyone that's been through a world cleansing or two can tell you;
one thing href="http://media.tentonhammer.com/vanguard/gallery/albums/album64/marolth.jpg"> title="Servant of Vol Anari"
style="border: 0px solid ; width: 150px; height: 192px; float: right;"
src="http://media.tentonhammer.com/vanguard/gallery/albums/album64/marolth.jpg"
alt="Servant of Vol Anari" hspace="4" vspace="4">
to expect during the final hour is a big golem-looking thing.
It's a bit of a clichée, but it's also expected in this day
and age of frequent apocalypses.  Vol Anari is no exception.
 He has his own golem, or servant;  Marolth.
 The servant will start approaching you shortly after you
accept the quest.  At this point it is safe to expect a bit of
pain, because it will happen.   In fact, take a close look at
the expression on the Champion's face in the background of the picture
to the right.  It explains it all.  "Oooooh girl!
He's in for a butt-whoopin!" the Champion exclaims.

Running commentary aside, you will want a healer for this round.
 While the servant of Vol Anari won't actually attack you, he style="font-style: italic;">will summon the
righteous flame, which really does hurt.

The righteous flame is a sort of Area Effect spell, except it will hit
you no matter where you try to run.  Buffs and hitpoints make
no difference either, and neither does level.  This flame style="font-style: italic;">will  hit
you.  It will hit you hard, and it will hit you often.

Thankfully you only have to endure it for about 60 seconds.  A
healer or two casting group heals should be able to keep the group up.
 It's not always easy though, so be prepared and bring backup.

Also of note is that the Righteous Flame will hit you as long as you're
in the group.  Even if you didn't accept the quest; if someone
in our group is working on it, you're going to get hit by it.
 On the happier side of the coin, if you're not in the group
you won't get hit by it.  This is particularly useful when
only one or two group members need to finish the quest.  You
can have a healer outside the group healing them, and they won't be
affected by the spell.

Once you've endured the Righteous Flame, go ahead and hail Vol Anari
again.  He will be overjoyed that you proved your purity, and
reward you with the Mark of Vol Anari.
