10 - Where To Hunt

2.0 -
Quests

I found a few quests to provide especially useful equipment, though as
a rule all lower-level quests are worth doing for the xp (experience)
and coin. No doubt the Hallmark quests to become a cleric (at level 9)
and a templar (at level 18-19) are the most important. Beyond this, the
armor multi-quest is your next big thing, brought to us courtesy of
Boomjack’s Paladin guide with great thanks.

2.2 -
Level 20+ Armor Quest

Quest #1 - Ian's Forgetful Family - Part I Talk to Ian Cathlan for your
Templar quest armour. He is located in Qeynos Harbor to the left of the
upper gate. You need to kill 20 Caltorsis Knights, which are found in
the Windstalker area of Antonica. These were green to a 20th level.
These can also be found near Fangbreaker Keep, located to the east
above Windstalker Vilage [Thanks Dylara if Qeynos] You need to kill 4
Sabertooth Tormentors. There is a trick here as these don't spawn until
you have cleared an entire camp of gnolls. The two camps outside of
BlackBurrow have both proven to spawn these,as do the two camps near
the bridge by the Oracle Tower Griff Landing Pad. Respawn time on the
gnolls is approximately 10 minutes.

These are wearable at level 20. Reward:

Hearth Forged Gauntlets

  • +2 agi, +5 wis, +11 Heatlh, +13 Power, +84 vs disease, +67 vs
    heat
  • AC: 68, 92 @ level 25
  • Skill: Heavy Armor
  • Required: 95
  • Mastery: 125
  • Slot: Hands

Quest #2 - Ian's Forgetful Family -
Part II [ Thanks Kaleb of Unrest for the quest name ]

  • Talk to Ian Cathlan for your Templar quest armour. He is located
in Qeynos Harbor to the left of the upper gate.
  • Kill Grolven Chiptooth, the named gnoll that wanders around
    outside Blackburrow.
  • Kill 25 Giant Kodiaks. These can be found north of Fangbreaker
Keep and East of the Windstalker area [Thanks Dylara of Qeynos].
  • Kill 4 Blightfang Broodtenders in Blackburrow.

These are wearable at level 20 Reward:

Hearth Forged Bracers

  • +5 int, +2 str, +13 Heatlh, +12 Power, +67 vs divine, +84 vs
    poison
  • AC: 102, 143 @ level 26
  • Skill: Heavy Armor
  • Required: 100
  • Mastery: 130
  • Slot: Forearms

Quest #3 - Ian's Forgetful Family -
Part III [ Thanks Kaleb of Unrest for the quest name ]

  • Talk to Ian Cathlan for your Templar quest armour. He is located
in Qeynos Harbor to the left of the upper gate.
  • Kill 12 Defiled Crusaders. These are found in Stormhold which is
located very near the Steppes Griffin Landing Pad.
  • Kill 12 Defiled Knights. These are also found in Stormhold.
  • Kill 5 Defiled Cavaliers. These are also found in Stormhold.

These are wearable at level 21. Reward:

Hearth Forged Boots

    mental
  • AC: 68, 99 @ level 27
  • Skill: Heavy Armor
  • Required: 105
  • Mastery: 135
  • Slot: Feet

Quest #4 - Ian's Forgetful Family -
Part IV [ Thanks Kaleb of Unrest for the quest name ]

  • Talk to Ian Cathlan for your Templar quest armour. He is located
in Qeynos Harbor to the left of the upper gate. Then head to the Crypt
of Betrayal (head down through the grate in QH to the Down Below, then
down through another grate located closeby into Vermin's Snye. From
here, head upstairs, follow the corridor to the first room, then hang a
right. When you get close to a dead end, turn left and jump into the
drainage hold and the CoB zone-in.
  • Gather 25 leather straps from deathly scarabs
  • Gather several forsaken shrillers (doesn't give you a number at
    all but it's around 15)
  • Need 15 arrows off of restless corpses

All of these mobs are in the Crypt of Betrayal. I hunted most of them
right near the entrance (two entrances, this was the lower con
entrance) and the corpses down the hallway. They were all blue con
(varying up arrows) to white con at level 22. Also a pretty nice named
scarab that pops near the entrance and drops some higher end loot.
[Thanks Norren of Najena, Telmah of Oggok, and Kithran of Faydark!]

These are wearable at level 22. Reward:

Hearth Forged Spaulders

  • +2 sta, +6 wis, +13 Heatlh, +16 Power, +84 vs cold, +67 vs heat
  • AC: 103 @ level 28
  • Skill: Heavy Armor
  • Required: 110
  • Mastery: 140
  • Slot: Shoulders

Quest #5 - Ian's Forgetful Family -
Part V [Thanks Kaleb of Unrest for the quest name]

Talk to Ian Cathlan for your Templar quest armour. He is located in
Qeynos Harbor to the left of the upper gate. Quest information provided
by Kaleb of Unrest. If you can fill in the missing information please
let me know.

  • Head to Thunderous Steppes.
  • Kill 10 corpse feeders (located in the dry river bed)
  • Kill sabertooth looters (can't remember exact number, in crater
at Qeynos Tower 1 near Antonica zone in)
  • Kill 10 (again can't remember exact number) unearthed settlers
(these can be found by the docks on other side of hill)
  • Kill skeleton units until you retrieve the quest-update sword
Bonechipper. This is reportedly dropped off of a variety of skeleton
mobs, but we've confirmed a drop off of a "skeleton protector" in the
Dead River (dry riverbed west of the docks).  Be patient and keep
knocking down the skellies; this update can take a while [Thanks Itecho
    Ivinus of Everfrost server!].

You need to be 23 to equip this item.

Hearth Forged Greaves [Thanks
Kaleb of Unrest]

  • +5 int, +4 str, +13 health, +17 power, +101 cold, +67 poison
  • AC: 122 (160 at level 29)

Quest #6 - Ian's Forgetful Family -
Part VI [ Thanks Kaleb of Unrest for the quest name ]

Talk to Ian Cathlan for your Templar quest armour. He is located in
Qeynos Harbor to the left of the upper gate. Quest information provided
by Kaleb of Unrest. If you can fill in the missing information please
let me know. Head to Thunderous Steppes.

  • Kill 10 drowned troopers (these are out near the burned out
forest close to Qeynos tower 4)
  • Kill (12 I think) centaur hunters (these spawn every 10 minutes
at Qeynos tower 4 in a group, you get one or two hunters in the group)
they also roam behind the tower but are much more rare and all the
    centaurs are placeholders.
  • Kill the named giant Ott Stompgutt (I don't have the exact
location but it's fairly close to Qeynos Tower 4, there is a valley
leading towards a bridge that is filled with giants. 3 giants spawn at
the entrance of the valley so clear those first.
  • When you walk into the valley and get near the rock Ott
automatically spawns along with two bear guards. He was yellow at 22 (I
think he's 24 with two up arrows). Make sure you have a good group with
two healers, he was fairly tough. NOTE: Adding people from a second
group to form a raid makes the encounter trivial and it doesn't count.
Has to be done with one group only.

You need to be level 24 to equip this item.

Hearth Forged Breastplate
[Thanks Kaleb of Unrest]

  • +4 agi, +5 str, +18 health, +14 power, +84 disease, +84 magic
  • AC 204 (276 at level 30)

2.3 -
Level 21-30 Quests

Spindlecog's New Job

Head to Baubbleshire and get a Gnomish language primer if you don't
know Gnomish (12s at the Baubbleshire scribe). Talk to Tinkerer
Spindlecog at the Inn. He'll want you to kill the following (note that
you have to return to him after each quest step, the reward is well
worth it however).

  • 10 Fledgling Antelope (in TS along path to docks and tower 2 from
    Antonica zone-in)
  • 5 griffawns (plains near +200, +1000 in TS, griffons are
    placeholders)
  • 10 tide octopii (lvl 24 mobs along any coastline, use your watery
    respite spell to pull)

Here's the heavy-armor reward:

Spindlecog Tinkerhelm

  • +6 wis +16 power +16 health +3 int +7 vs divine
  • Required 105 (wearable at 21)
  • Recommended 135
  • Armor Class 4 - 99 (max at level 27)
  • Slot Head
  • Weight 4.0

Dusty Blue Stone

NOTE: This is also the quest for the Ghoulbane, so if you're
interested in doing the "Restoring Ghoulbane" quest for the heritage
points, you CANNOT select "Torannim's Hammer" when collecting your
reward (select "Weakened Ghoulbane" at the end instead of the
Templar-friendly "Torranim's Hammer"). Once this hammer is attuned,
even if bought at the broker, you cannot do the Ghoulbane heritage
quest.

First, head to Nettleville Hovel and get the "Vida Needs a
New Broom" quest from Vida Sweeps (2nd merchant tent from the Mariner's
Bell ramp).  This is a simple A-B-A quest that you might have
completed at a lower level.  Bell to Baubbleshire and meet with
Tawli Whiskwind (2nd lvl of Hobbit "row-homes). Return to Vida to be
rewarded with a "Dusty Blue Stone", then examine it.  Take it to
Gruffin Goldtooth in Graystone Yard near the mine entrance. Gruffin
sends you to the Thundering Steppes to mine 40 Windswept Stone harvests
(can be gold or rough agate, just 40 total).

Next, return to Gruffin, who will ask you to speak with Aristide
Calais, who's in the SQ mage tower (red
transporter).  Aristide will send you to deliver a bag
to Olden Highguard at the Thundermist Village in Thundering
Steppes. After this is done, return to Aristide, who will send you to
Toranim Skyblade at the North Qeynos Temple of Life.

You will then be sent to Stormhold to kill any 20 undead mobs. Return
to Gruff for your reward!

Here's the 1HB reward:

Toranim's Hammer

  • +6 WIS, +5 INT,+20 Health, +20 power
  • Damage: 27-81 at 35
  • Delay: 2.0 seconds
  • Skill: 150 (level 30) to 175
  • Wt: 4.0
