Ten Ton Hammer's Class Guides - Warlock

Demonology Talent Guide

This demonology talent guide will let you know which of the Demonology talents you should go for, and which you should pass up unless you're going full into this tree, which is never really recommended since having points into Affliction or Destruction really help you out in the long run. We will go over each talent, analyze what it does, and why you would or wouldn't want it.

Return to the new Warlock Talent Guide. The Warlock Talent Guide will link you to all 3 different Talent builds and explain how they work, and why you would ever need or use them, including important talents to pick up as well as often ignored ones.

Tier 1

Tier 1 is available at level ten, when your first talents open up.

Improved Healthstone

Max 2 Points, increases the amount of Health restored by your Healthstone by 10%/20%.

This is a great talent to have if you're going demonology all the way down or atleast halfway; more HP returns helps you both in a PvP setting and a PvE setting, although you should probably be maximizing the points in Demonic Embrace first.

  • Recommended

Improved Imp

Max 3 points. Increases the effect of your Imp's Firebolt, Fire Shield, and Blood Pact spells by 10%/20%/30%.

While initially it might seem like a good idea to have this talent, it is recommended you only do it if you're going full demonology and plan on having your imp out a lot (not very often), this talent shines by itself in a raid environment for the main tank's party, but otherwise, be careful about obtaining it.

  • Recommended if Raiding

Demonic Embrace

Max 5 points, increases your total Stamina by 3%/6%/9%/12%/15% but reduces your total Spirit by 1%/2%/3%/4%/5%.

This is THE tier 1 talent to have if you're going to be PvPing, an HP increase is always welcome, and the spirit loss is minimal for a warlock. More HP will always be a plus in any environment.

  • Must have

Tier 2

Improved Health Funnel

Max 2 points, Increases the amount of Health transfered by your Health Funnel spell by 10%/20%.

Not much to say about this talent, while it may be worthwhile while leveling if you picked an all-out demonology build, it loses its shine later on and it's definitely not useful in any endgame scenarios.

  • Not Recommended

Improved Voidwalker

Max 3 points, Increases the effectiveness of your Voidwalker's Torment, Consume Shadows, Sacrifice and Suffering spells by 10%/20%/30%.

Highly recommended if you're using demonology to level, otherwise skip this one, and you should definitely not use it during your endgame ventures!

  • Recommended for Leveling, bad for Endgame

Fel Intellect

Max 3 points, Increases the maximum Mana of your Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Felhunter, and Felguard by 5%/10%/15% and increases your maximum mana by 1%/2%/3%.

This talent is great if you're climbing up further in the demonology tree as it lets you and your pets enjoy more mana, it's not groundbreaking, but a good step talent for other more useful ones.

  • Highly Recommended!

Tier 3

Improved Succubus

3 point talent, increases the effect of your Succubus's Lash of Pain and Soothing Kiss spells by 10%/20%/30%, and increases the duration of your Succubus's Seduction and Lesser Invisibility spells by 10%/20%/30%.

All around unimpressive talent; the succubus is a good choice in some PvP venues but her only effective skill is seduction, and that's a one-trick pony. Lengthening by 30% (at most) isn't very effective. Skip if possible.

  • Not recommended.

Fel Domination

1 point, your next Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Felhunter, and Felguard Summon spell has its casting time reduced by 5.5 sec and its Mana cost reduced by 50%

This talent is a must if you're this far; resummoning almost instantly gives you a direct advantage in PvP and PvE if you've lost your pet. Once you can master using this talent, you'll become way better at fighting while relying on your pet..

  • Situational, but can turn the tide of a battle if used right.

Fel Stamina

Max 3 points, Increases the maximum Health of your Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Felhunter, and Felguard by 5%/10%/15%. and increases your maximum health by 1% up to 3%

Great talent to obtain, not only do you buff up your pet's HP, but you do yours too, get this if you're going to PvP or rely on your pets!

  • Highly recommended!

Demonic Aegis

Max 3 points, increases the effectiveness of your Demon Armor and Fel Armor spells by 10%/20%/30%.

Get this talent, it allows you to be healed way more by your support in PvP and naturally increases the effectiveness of heals on you in PvE as well, no reason not to max this if you're this far in.

  • Highly Recommended!

Tier 4

Master Summoner

Max 2 points, educes the casting time of your Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Felhunter, and Felguard summoning spells by 2/4 sec and the Mana cost by 20%/40%.

This is a nice talent to have if you're going to PvP much, resummoning pets faster is always a plus, as well as a nice pick if you want to change something mid-battle and have a few seconds open. Get it if you need to employ more points into this tree.

  • Situational, yet not a bad talent to put points in for other tiers.

Unholy Power

Max 2 points, Increases the damage done by your Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Felhunter, and Felguard's melee attacks by 4%/8%/12%/16%/20%.

This is a great Talent to have now that you're this deep in the talent tree - you will be using your Felguard or Felhunter to fight, and this will definitely help you out some.

  • Must Have

Improved Enslave Demon

Max 2 points, Reduces the Attack Speed and Casting Speed penalty of your Enslave Demon spell by 5%/10% and reduces the resist chance by 5%/10%.

This talent is as useful as it reads, avoid at all costs since it's extremely, extremely situational in all scenarios.

  • Not recommended

Tier 5

Demonic Sacrifice

Max 1 points, When activated, sacrifices your summoned Demon to grant you an effect that lasts 30 min. The effect is cancelled if any Demon is summoned.

Great talent for soloing when you want Health or Mana regeneration, or simply added damage boosts - get this, there's situations where you could definitely benefit from the added buff.

  • Recommended! use this to sacrifice your demon if it's run out of mana.

Master Conjuror

2 point skill, Increases the bonus Fire damage from Firestones and the Firestone effect by 15%/30% and increases the spell critical strike rating bonus of your Spellstone by 15%/30%.

Absolutely unnecessary to have in any given situation - spellstones are good as PvP weapons for the instant cleanse you can obtain (especially in arena!) but this talent does nothing to help them, and firestones are so situational you shouldn't really bother.

  • Not recommended

Mana Feed

3 Point Talent, When you gain mana from Drain Mana or Life Tap spells, your pet gains 33%/66%/100% of the mana you gain.

While it might seem an interesting talent, you have many more choices to pick from, and your pets will seldom be running low on mana anyway, try to avoid this talent.

  • Not recommended

Tier 6

Master Demonology

5 Point talent - Grants both the Warlock and the summoned Demon an effect as long as that Demon is active.

If you've invested enough points to come this far, this talent is a must, you will obtain a permanent buff as long as your demon is out, and this will always be beneficial to you - get this talent and max it.

  • Must Have

Tier 7

Demonic Resilience

3 point talent, Reduces the chance you'll be critically hit by melee and spells by 1%/2%/3% and reduces all damage your summoned demon takes by 5%/10%/15%.

MUST GET if you're going to PvP, Resilience is a very important stat, and your demon will almost always be targetted as well by serious PvPers, otherwise, don't worry too much about this talent if you're going soloing or small groups.

  • Highly Recommended for PvP

Soul Link

1 point skill, when active, 20% of all damage taken by the caster is taken by your Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Felhunter or Felguard demon instead. In addition, both the Demon and the master will inflict 5% more damage. Lasts as long as the Demon is active

This is a staple of the demonology build. Get it, use it, keep it up at all times. Not getting this if you're this far up is wrong.

  • Must Have

Tier 8

Demonic Knowledge

3 point talent, Increases your spell damage by an amount equal to 5%/10%/15% of the total of your active demon's Stamina plus Intellect.

This talent is essential for the demonologist in both PvP and PvE; spell damage goes up a lot with this and you'll always want this if you're going this far up - it's your damage talent in Demonology.

  • Must Have

Demonic Tactics

5 point talent, Increases the crit chance caused by you and your summoned demon by 1%/2%/3%/4%/5%. Both melee and spells.

Great combination along with Demonic Knowledge, a recommended talent since critical strikes are very important for burst damage, and your pet will benefit as well.

  • Recommended!

Tier 9

Summon Felguard

1 point skill. Summons a Felguard under the command of the Warlock.

This is considered to be both a great and a subpar talent at the same time. While many PvPing warlocks often prefer the Felhunter for their PvPing, soul linking this pet is also a very good choice, not to mention that he's a very reliable tank (more so than the Voidwalker!) in PvE, and has a lot of uses to keep enemies both human and AI busy.

There's no reason not to get this pet if you've invested many points into Demonology, as he's a great alternative to the Felhunter, and a great companion should you decide to go Solo to places, him combined with Soul Link and Master Demonology will make you really tough to beat!

  • Must Have / Highly Recommended
