The Elder Cipher is a an Exotic Bounty that gives the player the option of choosing between three House of Wolves exotic weapons as the reward. The three weapons you’ll be choosing between are the Queen’s Breaker Bow, the Dreg’s Promise, and the Lord of Wolves.

Before you get to the loot though, there’s a lot of work to be done. For starters you’re going to need to get your hands on the Elder Cipher. The only way to get an Elder Cipher is via a random drop for defeating the final boss in Prison of Elders or the large treasure chest on lvl 34 or lvl 35, no walk in the park.

If you are one of the lucky ones to receive the bounty, the first step is to return it to Variks where you’ll have to wait a random period of time for the bounty to become “ready”. The time varies but it will be at least 24 hours and Variks will summon you when his work is done.

Step 1: Choose Your Weapon

Before you begin you’ve got to choose what your prize will be at the end of the bounty. Each weapon has its strengths and weaknesses, but if you’re looking for a little more information on them check out our House of Wolves Exotic Weapons Guide.

Step 2: Defeat Prison of Elders Bosses

You’ve got to accumulate 1000 points total that can only be done by killing Prison of Elders arena bosses. Each boss will offer a different amount of points depending on who they are and what difficulty you are playing on. A couple examples are:

  • Skolas // lvl 35 = 450 points
  • All Bosses // lvl 34 = 250 points each
  • All Bosses // lvl 32 = 200 points each
  • All Bosses // lvl 28 = 75 points each

Step 3: Turn it in!

When you’ve got enough points, all you need to do is return to Variks in the Reef and collect the weapon you chose at the start. Congratulations on your new Exotic weapon!
